I love caramel candy but I think that I manage to stain my shirt or pants almost every time I eat them. This is why I want to show you how to remove caramel stains from your clothes – because I know how annoying stains can be.
How to Properly Remove Caramel Stains From Your Clothes?
Removing caramel stains is not that hard even though the caramel is sticky and you may think that removing it will require a lot of time and expensive fancy detergents. I am here to show you just how simple it can be when you are quick in treating the stain.
Just like any other stains, the longer you wait to treat them, the harder the removing process will be. This is why I recommend you to immediately get started with the cleaning – right after you drop the caramel.
First thing you need to do is remove the excess caramel. Either scoop it with a spoon or scrape it with a dull knife. If you spilled caramel sauce, on the other hand, the first thing you need to do is apply ice cubes to it so you can harden it, and then you can proceed with scooping it with the spoon. This will prevent you from driving the stain further or spreading the caramel and affecting more of your clothing item.
After you remove as much as possible, hold the fabric under running cold water – and hold the wrong side of the clothing item so the direct contact isn’t with the actual stain but the other side.
Of course, another important step in removing the stain is treating it. I like to use my liquid laundry detergent for this part. I apply some to the stain and work it in with my fingers. Then I wait for at least 15 minutes so the liquid has time to work its magic and then I rinse with cold water once again.
And the last part of the cleaning is washing the clothing item as usual – either by hand or in the washing machine. But before you throw the clothing piece in the washing machine, make sure the stain is removed completely. If any bits or pieces of the caramel are left behind, the high heat from the appliance will set it and the caramel will harden.
