You probably have a favourite knife you use all the time – no matter what you are cutting. This is great, however, if you don’t take proper care of the knife you will most likely start noticing rust spots forming on the surface. This is super unpleasant and you will probably start avoiding using the knife that was once your favourite because of it. But before you throw it away, let me introduce you to a few amazing hacks for removing rust that will change your life!

They are super easy and non-expensive since all you need are a few natural ingredients!

The First Hack

For this hack, all you need is vinegar. Fill a bowl with the vinegar then submerge the knife in there. Let it sit overnight.

The next day, take the knife and scrub the rust with a wire brush. You may need to repeat these steps once again depending on how old the rust spots are.

Once you are happy with the result, wash with hot soapy water then dry with a paper towel!

The Second Hack

The next hack on our list includes baking soda – another amazing natural ingredient that will remove rust when used properly. Mix water with the powder in order to create a paste then spread it all over the blade of the knife. Make sure you cover all rust stains with the paste. Let it sit for a few hours before you grab a wire brush and scrub the blade for a bit.

Then rinse and dry!

The Third Hack

For the next hack, you need lemon and salt. Make sure you sprinkle salt on top of the affected areas then squeeze half a lemon on top. Leave the mixture for a few hours then scrub with a wire brush.

Then once you rinse the knife, all rust spots will be removed!

The Fourth Hack

This hack is pretty weird, however, it does work super well so I highly suggest you give it a try. You need one potato – yes, a potato. It contains oxalic acid which is known to dissolve rust – and isn’t that exactly what you want?

Slice the potato in half then grab liquid dish soap. Add the soap on top of the affected areas then place the potato on top. You can also add baking soda in between the knife and the potato so you can scrub the rust off easily without the need of using a wire brush.

Then simply rinse and dry with paper towels.

Did you know that you actually have to deep clean your sink? I know that most people rarely do this chore, however, if you want all those impurities, hard water stains, build-up, and bacteria to be removed then you need to clean it. Rinsing it with the soapy water you use to wash your dishes is definitely not enough!

Today, I will tell you exactly how I clean my sink – and the best part is that I use a few natural ingredients you already have in your home. You don’t need any fancy commercial cleaners that are expensive – just vinegar and baking soda! Both ingredients are amazing cleaners – and when you combine them together, they have a fizzing reaction that is great for removing build-up and impurities without you actually having to scrub or wipe!

How I Deep Clean My Sink With Natural Ingredients?

First, start off with preparing everything needed – baking soda, vinegar, a measuring cup, a sponge, and a cloth.

Then sprinkle 1/4 cup of baking soda in your sink. Add 1/4 cup of vinegar on top of that and allow the fizzing to clean your sink. Wait at least 10 minutes before you move on to the next step!

Then grab the sponge and gently scrub the surface with it. Focus on any stained areas.

And finally, rinse with hot water in order to wash all the impurities and the baking soda and vinegar residue!

I do this cleaning twice a week just to ensure my sink is spotless and all bacteria are removed because, unfortunately, a sink is a breeding ground for germs.

If you have a cast-iron skillet then you know how easily it gets dirty – and cleaning them seems like this difficult chore, right? Well, I am here to tell you that you can easily get rid of all the burnt food, build-up, grease, rust, and other stubborn impurities with just one household ingredient – baking soda! Of course, this cleaning will require a lot of scrubbing and elbow grease, however, it’s all worth it in the end!

How To Do It?

Prepare your baking soda and a scouring pad. Add a cup of warm water to the skillet, sprinkle the baking soda all over the pad, and start scrubbing. Keep in mind that this will take a while so you might want to play your favourite songs or turn on a podcast to listen to. This is how I deal with annoying and time-consuming tasks – I either play music or listen to a podcast or a book. That way, I don’t feel like I have wasted time because I enjoy whatever I am listening to (and if it’s a book or a podcast, I learn something valuable while doing my chores).

Keep sprinkling more baking soda if necessary and keep scrubbing until the water turns really dirty.

Once you are done, rinse the skillet. If you need to, reapply more baking soda and pour more water, and scrub until the skillet is spotless. Finally, rinse it with hot soapy water.

In order to avoid rust from appearing on your skillet, you will need to oil it. I use olive oil to do that. I apply a small amount of the oil to a cloth then I buff it into the skillet!

It’s no secret that you need to do certain things on a daily basis if you want your home to always be spotless. You can’t just clean once and be messy the rest of the week, right?

4 Things I Do On Daily Basis To Maintain My Home Clean

– I never walk with shoes inside

One of the easiest ways to get your home dirty is by wearing shoes inside. Can you imagine all the impurities and germs that your shoes have picked up when you were walking in the morning to pick up your coffee? Well, all of these impurities will be spread in your house once you come home.

This is why I always have “house slippers” that I wear only inside my home. I never go out in them. Whenever I come home, I take my shoes off and put on my house slippers. That way, I know that I won’t spread any impurities inside.

This allows me to always have spotless floors – and my carpets look brand new (and I have had them for over 6 years!).

– Take care of the kitchen once you are done cooking

Another very important habit you need to have is to always clean your kitchen after cooking. Wipe the countertops, clean-up any messes or spills, clean the stovetop, etc.

– Don’t pile up clothes

If you are in a hurry, then piling up clothes in your bedroom can be so easy. Then, once you come home in the evening, you see a giant pile of clothes on the bed – and what do you do? You do not fold them and put them back in your wardrobe, you place them on a chair. And just like that, you are creating even more chores you need to do later.

That’s why I always make sure I plan what I am going to wear the previous night – so I don’t make a huge mess in my bedroom that I have to deal with later.

– You don’t need to do everything in one day

I recently decided to divide my cleaning chores and not do them in one day. This allows me to have more free time and not feel exhausted. One day I dust all surfaces in my home and the next – I vacuum and mop the floors. Trust me, you will feel so much better once you convince yourself that you don’t need to do everything in one day!

If you have wooden furniture in your home then you know how hard finding the right cleaner is. For example, I have wooden chairs, dinner table, coffee table, and… my floors are wooden but, for some reason, the more I use commercial cleaners the more the wooden furniture looks worn out.

Of course, I came to the realization that the wooden commercial cleaners I was using were actually doing more damage than good. So I began searching for homemade cleaners I could make and use ingredients that won’t damage the wood. I knew that the right recipe was out there – and, thankfully, I found it!

Here Is How To Make Your Own Wood Cleaner!

You would need a few ingredients – white vinegar, olive oil, lemon juice, vegetable glycerin, and lavender essential oil.

Simply mix everything in a spray bottle and shake well before using the cleaner. Use 1/2 cup of the vinegar, 1/4 cup of olive oil, 1 tablespoon of the lemon juice, a tablespoon of the vegetable glycerin, and 20 drops of the essential oil.

Why Does This Cleaner Work?

All of the ingredients I use are safe to be applied on wood and provide amazing results.

The olive oil will leave the wood shiny because it will moisturize and protect it.

The vinegar is amazing at removing grease, dirt, dust, and all sorts of impurities. It’s also an amazing disinfectant!

The lemon juice, similar to the vinegar, both cleans and disinfects! It also smells amazing and will cancel out the terrible vinegar scent.

The vegetable glycerin will keep the wood shiny for longer.

The essential oil will make your cleaner smell amazing – and this is an important step whenever you use vinegar. I specifically use lavender because it has antibacterial properties. You can also use a tea tree if you want the extra disinfecting properties!
